"For just as the body is one and has many members, and all the members of the body, though many, are one body, so it is with Christ" (1 Cor. 12:12).
Although we may practice our worship to the Lord differently (John 4:23), we have a set of shared beliefs and values that drive the mission of Seattle REPRESENT. This collection of beliefs are considered fundamental to the faith and absolute in nature.
THE APOSTLE'S CREED
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, the Maker of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord: Who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and buried; He descended into hell. The third day He arose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sits at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there he shall come to judge the quick and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit; the holy catholic church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.
THE BIBLE
We believe the whole Bible is the divinely inspired, infallible, authoritative living word of God. It is considered the doctrinal rule of truth. (2 Tim. 3:16-17)
THE TRINITY
We believe there is one God existing eternally in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are co-eternal in being and co-equal in power and glory. (2 Cor. 13:14)
THE FALL OF HUMANITY
We believe that humanity was created in the image of God (Gen. 1:26-27), but, by voluntary disobedience, has been separated from God and is spiritually broken because of sin (Rom. 3:23, Rom 5:12).
We believe that humanity is unable to attain divine righteousness on its own, and there is no path of self-realization that can reconcile us to God (Eph 2:8-10)
THE GOSPEL MESSAGE
We believe that, while we were still sinners, Jesus Christ died for us—that anyone who believes in Him and the Gospel of salvation will be reconciled to God (Rom. 5:8, John 3:16)
THE SECOND COMING
We believe all will die or will witness Jesus Christ's second coming (1 Thess 4:16, 17). We believe that all will be judged according to their lives, and that we will live eternally in either heaven or hell (John 5:22-23, Rev 20:11-15).
